Aurora Speed Kit
Unofficial. Made by Marcus. Kit version 1.
A small Aurora script that makes Aurora 0.7b.2 (r1655) show your game list much sooner. It is for Xbox 360 consoles (RGH or JTAG) that use Marcus's old setup: one or more Aurora copies under AuroraInstances.
Aurora is made by Phoenix. This kit is not made, checked or supported by Phoenix, so please do not ask Phoenix for help with it. The kit does not contain Aurora. It contains a patch that only works on your own copy of the official Aurora 0.7b.2 (r1655).
What it changes
- Only
Aurora.xexin each Aurora copy it finds. Your original stays next to it as a backup (Aurora.xex.r1655.bak). - It adds its own folder,
User\Scripts\Utility\SpeedKit(the kit and the 9 MB patch), to each Aurora copy, so you can run it, and Undo, from any of them. - It does not change databases, settings, skins, plugins, games or title updates.
- It deletes only files it made itself. Your own
Aurora.xex.*copies (for exampleAurora.xex.neworAurora.xex.old) are never changed or deleted.
How it works: the kit checks that your Aurora.xex is the official r1655 file. It makes the faster Aurora.xex on your console from that file and a 9 MB patch. Then it checks that the result is exactly the tested file before it replaces anything. If any check fails, it changes nothing.
Time until the game list shows, on the tester's console (4 Nov 2026): Xbox 360 games 96 s to 17 s, XBLA 140 s to 11.5 s, XBLIG 166 s to 36 s. Covers, sorting, filters and the title update manager work as before.
New: the thatoneconsolemodder launcher
A small Aurora script that lists the apps on this site (now the Aurora Speed Kit, more later) and installs or updates the one you pick, so you never type an address on the console. It checks every file before it changes anything, keeps every file it replaces with .old added to the name (for example Main.lua.old), and updates itself. Get it once with Homebrew Store (steps below): open Aurora Speed Kit, pick thatoneconsolemodder (v1), then restart Aurora. After that use Back > Scripts > thatoneconsolemodder. File: tocm/v1/Main.lua, 51,951 bytes, SHA-1 46755D08412B5314806C1D48F14BA8CAB0A82454.
Install with Homebrew Store (no PC)
The console must be online.
- In Aurora press Back and open Scripts. Open Aurora Repo Browser > Utility Scripts > Homebrew Store and install it, then leave the Repo Browser. If Homebrew Store is not under Scripts, restart Aurora.
- Back > Scripts > Homebrew Store >
<enter URL>. - The keyboard shows
https://. Replace all of it with this address and confirm:http://thatoneconsolemodder.app/kit.iniIt must start withhttp://, not https. - The store says the repo is installed and closes. That is normal.
- Open Homebrew Store again. Pick Aurora Speed Kit, then Aurora Speed Kit (v1), then Yes. If it says "Item Already Exists", pick Yes.
- Press B until the store asks to reload Aurora, and pick Yes.
- Back > Scripts > Aurora Speed Kit > Check. Then pick Install, read the list and pick Yes. It downloads about 9 MB; the bar does not move during the download. When the Aurora you are running has changed, Aurora restarts by itself.
If the store says the storage device (hdd1:) is not connected, use its "Change Storage Device" item and pick the drive Aurora is on. The kit always goes into the Scripts folder of the Aurora you are running.
Install from a USB stick (no internet on the console)
- On a PC, download SpeedKit-v1-usb.zip and unzip it to a FAT32 USB stick. You get a folder named
SpeedKitwithMain.lua,r1655-b1.xdpandREADME.txt. - Plug the stick into the console. In Aurora open the File Manager and copy the
SpeedKitfolder fromUsb0:into theUser\Scripts\Utilityfolder of the Aurora copy you are running, for exampleHdd1:\AuroraInstances\Xbox 360\Aurora\User\Scripts\Utility\. - Restart Aurora. Back > Scripts > Aurora Speed Kit > Check, then Install. No internet is needed: the patch is in the folder.
Undo
Back > Scripts > Aurora Speed Kit > Undo > Yes. Aurora restarts by itself. No internet needed. It puts your original Aurora.xex back in each Aurora copy.
To remove the kit completely: run Undo first, then Remove kit files in the kit. To remove this server from Homebrew Store, delete User\Scripts\Utility\HomebrewStore\Repos\thatoneconsolemodder.app.ini with the File Manager.
Only one Aurora copy on the console?
If the kit says the Aurora you are running "could not be switched while in use", nothing is broken and your Aurora keeps working. Without a second Aurora copy the switch cannot finish. Delete Aurora.xex.sk-new with the File Manager.
If something goes wrong
- Never switch the console off while the kit says "do not turn the console off".
- The only exception is a stuck download. The bar does not move while the patch downloads, but if nothing changes for 10 minutes, you can switch the console off. The kit downloads everything before it changes any Aurora copy, so nothing has changed yet.
- If one Aurora copy no longer starts, start another copy from your boot menu (for example qLoader) and run Aurora Speed Kit there. Install or Undo repairs the broken copy.
- Or, in a working copy, open the File Manager and go to the broken copy's Aurora folder. Rename the broken
Aurora.xextoAurora.xex.broken. Then renameAurora.xex.r1655.bak(orAurora.xex.sk-neworAurora.xex.sk-old) toAurora.xex. The next Install makes a new backup. - If no Aurora starts at all, put the drive on a PC (FATXplorer) and do the same renames there.

On Windows you can check a file with certutil -hashfile Main.lua SHA1.
Trust
Main.lua is not signed. Homebrew Store downloads it over plain HTTP and installs it without any check, and Aurora runs scripts without asking. The kit checks the patch and the new Aurora.xex against fixed checksums, but nothing checks Main.lua itself. Anyone who controls this server, its name or your network could change it.
Main.lua is short and readable, and it asks only for the http and filesystem permissions. If you want to be careful, use the USB route: compare the SHA-1 of Main.lua with the one Marcus posted outside this server before you copy it to the console. This page is on the same server, so on its own it proves nothing.
The launcher checks every file it installs against the size and SHA-1 in apps.ini, so a damaged or cut-off download is refused. The list itself comes from this server over plain HTTP, so the warning above applies to it too: whoever controls this server, its name or your network could change the list and the files together. Before each install the launcher shows what the app asks Aurora for (the Speed Kit asks for HTTP and File System only), and it refuses a Main.lua whose permissions differ from the list. If a download hangs for more than 5 minutes, turning the console off is safe: nothing is changed until every file is downloaded and checked.
